Bio

Hamilton native Brenda Brown studied Music at Mohawk College and Laurentian University. She has been singing professionally since 2012 and has worked as voice talent for recording audio books.

Musically Brenda has a refreshing way of uplifting and entertaining her audiences by combining her smooth and expressive voice with a discerning choice of repertoire. She loves the old standards, but is always looking for good songs from any era. For Brenda, the point of singing a song is connecting with people, to allow them to feel good when they're listening, and to unwind and enjoy themselves.

Brenda's debut EP Brenda Brown is a refreshing cross-section of well-known tunes and some original material including Rodgers and Hart’s Blue Moon, Bob Dylan’s Make You Feel My Love, and Gershwin’s Our Love Is Here To Stay. The Brenda Brown EP received a nomination for Jazz Recording of the Year at the 2015 Hamilton Music Awards.

Brenda has performed locally at the Dundas Cactus Festival, The Artword Artbar, at the Pier 8 Waterfront Stage for Music In The City, the Downtown Hamilton BIA's Localicious and Gore Park Promenade series. Brenda performs at numerous private and corporate events and receptions throughout the GHTA. Her EP was produced by jazz musician Ross Wooldridge and engineered by Carl Jennings.

Brenda has a Bachelor of Arts in Music degree from Laurentian University, and has taught music in Hamilton public schools and privately. Her education degree is from Charles Sturt University and Nipissing University. She is an Ontario Certified Teacher, OCT.
